The Volunteer Reserve Corps consists of citizens interested
in providing volunteer support during or following a local
or regional disaster such as a flood, blizzard, hurricane,
epidemic or terrorist act.
Volunteers with diverse backgrounds
and experience, such as business administration, clerical
or computer support, labor, or animal rescue, may be called
upon to assist the Medical Reserve Corps, nonprofit organizations
or local governments responding to an event.
You may have specialized equipment
like a four-wheel drive vehicle or a ham radio that that could
be used to support communications and essential deliveries.
Volunteers may also be needed simply to go door to door to
ask citizens if they have problems or needs.
By joining the Volunteer Reserve
Corps you will be offered training in disaster response so
that you are better prepared to assist during emergencies.
We also plan and train for mobilizations
for health initiatives such as vaccination clinics. In a large
scale operation, medical staff and volunteers may not be able
to work effectively without the supporting services of many
general volunteers.
