The Brunswick Railroad Museum
currently needs volunteers to work on each of the three main levels of the facility. In the museum store, they need clerks to make cash and charge sales, take admissions, give directions, answer questions pertaining to the C&O Canal facility, answer the telephone, and perform light stock duties. The second floor social history gallery needs docents to lead tours, explain exhibits and relate the social history of the booming railroad town c. 1900. There is an interactive tour question sheet and hands-on activities next to each of the three Victorian rooms and a computerized telegraph setup. On the third floor, "engineers" are needed to run the trains, provide brief railroad history and perform minor maintenance (in case of train wrecks, etc) on the huge, interactive HO scale model railroad layout depicting the B&O RR's Metropolitan Line. Anyone with a love of model railroading will enjoy this job! Training is provided. For more information, contact the museum at (301) 834-7100.
