Youth Service Programs
Volunteer Frederick’s Youth Service programs and the youth who engage in them have a mission to explore, volunteerism in Frederick County. We are a group of young individuals from all over Frederick who want to know more about the role we play in our society, what we can do to help aid our community, and how we can make the changes we think are important for the betterment of the world at large. How we go about achieving these goals is through the concept of service learning. By becoming involved in our surrounding nonprofit organizations, government programs, small businesses, media, and our schools, we gain not only the skills and knowledge to make changes for the better, but we also make connections with people that have the same questions and desire for positive aid and change in the world.
Volunteer Frederick’s Youth Service department has developed its service learning model with the guidance of the Frederick County Public Schools. Do you have questions about the Frederick County Public School Service Learning Requirement and/or the Service Learning Model? Click Here!
Summer Opportunities
SummerServe
SummerServe is an intense five (5) week summer service learning program to benefit those youth who are too mature for babysitters, but too young to work, drive or be left home alone while parents work. All you need to do is get to our central drop-off location and be prepared to volunteer! We offer five different service projects every day so you'll be able to choose what excites you the most.
SummerServe Express
SummerServe Express is similar to SummerServe, however it is only two weeks long. This program is perfect for young people who want to be involved in an intense service learning experience, but can't commit to the full five-week program.
School Year Opportunities
Youth Action Corps
The Youth Action Corps is a that runs year-round where youth meet with Volunteer Frederick Staff to develop their own service projects. Come to the meetings with an issue that you want to address, and we'll help you brainstorm a way to make it happen. Then the whole group will work together to make your vision a reality. If you don't have anything in mind, come anyway! You can help someone else who needs volunteers for his or her project.
Kids Care Club
Kids Care Clubs are groups of young peope who work together to help others in their communities and around the world. Clubs are formed in schools, churches, synagogues, Volunteer Centers, community centers, homeless shelters and other community-based organizations.
